How to Make a Seashell Necklace
Small seashells weigh less, but tend to crack when drilled.
Select seashells for the project. Gather extra shells in case of cracking during the drilling process.
Jewelry findings and craft wire
Design the necklace before drilling the shells. Lay shells in a necklace shape and photograph the pattern for reference.
- 3). Drill a hole in each shell with a small drill bit. Shells may crack under the pressure of the power drill. Use a 1/64" drill bit for small to medium shells. Use 1/8" drill bit for larger shells.
- 4). Cut jewelry wire to desired necklace length. Double and fold over the wire if heavy shells are used. Tie one end through the jewelry clasp and knot.
- 5). Thread seashells and beads onto the jewelry wire. Tie the remaining end through the jewelry hook and knot.
