    Proteins

    • Protein is one of the most important factors in hair growth, and is even added to many shampoos and conditioners to promote growth and hair strength. Incorporate three to five servings if iron-rich proteins into your diet daily. Proteins are found mostly in meats, such as shellfish, beef, chicken and eggs.

    Vitamin C

    • Vitamin C helps to form collagen within the body. Collagen helps things stick together, such as hair follicles and blood vessels. Vitamin C also helps to ward off flu and common cold germs, so this is a vitamin that will protect your body, while helping your locks grow and strengthen. Incorporate two to three servings of vitamin C into your diet each day. One serving would be equal to an orange, grapefruit, or any other citrus fruit. Vitamin C is even found in green vegetables such as broccoli and brussels sprouts.

    B Vitamins

    • B vitamins are a great source of energy, and should be heavily incorporated into your daily diet. B vitamins are included in nearly every energy drink and energy bar on the market, and are known for oxygenating the body. As the body is oxygenated, blood flow increases to all parts of the body, including hair follicles. This will stimulate the scalp, which will lead to stronger and faster hair growth. Try to include at least three to five servings of B vitamins into your diet each day. Foods rich in B vitamins include beans, shellfish, potatoes, soy, spinach and beets.

    Zinc

    • Zinc stimulates oil glands that help hair to grow. Without zinc, less oil is produced, which leads to dry, cracked hair, and dry scalp. Try to incorporate two to three servings of zinc into your daily diet. Foods include peanut butter, lean pork, seeds and chicken.
