My Male Best Friend's Baltimore Single Speed Dating Adventure

My good friend Brad who I went to high school with just moved up to Baltimore from DC and he attends a 12-step program but didn't want to date anyone in a 12-step program, so I suggested he try Baltimore Single Speed Dating. He's been sober for 17 years and for various reasons hasn't had success with dating women in the program. When I suggested speed dating he looked at me like I had five heads and said, "I'm not that desperate!" I explained to him it had nothing to do with desperation but more like a fun night out where he can "date" 20 women in one night. I also said I'd go with him if he was intimidated by the event. So along I went.

I heard about this through several of my friends that belong to a social networking site called Professionals in the City and that they are known for their amazing speed dating parties. These parties are a great way to find Baltimore singles.

Now Brad is absolutely gorgeous but he has a hard time meeting women because he's very shy at first and even though countless attractive women have given him their number, he's never called because the man in is in serious need of a dating coach - which has become my current role because we're best friends. So off we went to the Baltimore Single Speed Dating event.

We arrived at a very nice restaurant that had a section cordoned off for our event. We checked in 20 minutes early as suggested and headed over to the bar for some drinks. Brad needs no alcohol to loosen up because after 17 years sober he doesn't mind other people drinking. But if they get too drunk that's a turn-off to him, as well as most "not-too-drunk" people in general. There was a lot of Baltimore single women there and finally the speed dating began.

After the Baltimore Single Speed Dating event, portion was over, everyone headed back to the bar for more drinks and socializing. Brad met a woman he liked who he emailed and called several times. Their first date is set up for next week so now I'm in full force coaching mode because he's only dated women he's had a friendship with for a long time. I think he'll be fine and I hope he can have a relationship with her. I mean, if I approve of her she's a keeper!
